A South African business mogul once said “No action is too small when it comes to changing the world…I’m inspired every time I meet an entrepreneur who is succeeding against all odds.” I first heard these words when I was an undergraduate student studying political science in Washington DC. At the time, i didn't know these words would go on to influence what I studied in graduate school and later the career path I chose.
Since 2010, I have worked on numerous development programs in Africa and provided individuals, communities and institutions across a wide range of sectors with the tools to become exceptional leaders capable of building scalable and sustainable businesses that contribute to the greater good.
Before Thelela Consulting, I worked with a team of amazing individuals at Vital Voices Global Partnership on a four year public-private program which supported businesswomen’s associations in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria and South Africa with grant funding, technical assistance and trainings in organizational management, and advocacy for an enabling economic environment for women.
My prior career spans across Dalberg Global Development Advisors, Africa Center for Open Governance, Raising Voices, United Nations Development Programme, Tanzania, and Senator Walter Rand Institute for Public Affairs.
I am a founding member of the Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance - a network of highly educated young African entrepreneurs spearheading high impact social business ventures across Africa. I hold dearly the words of the Harambe Bretton Woods Declaration which says "We will check our road, and the nature of our battle. Yet in the end, the Africa our generation desires can be won, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is ours."
